Planning Your Visit
When does the 2026 tour season run?
Tours run from May 2 to October 31, 2026, on Saturdays and Sundays. There are three departures each day: 9:00 AM, 12:30 PM, and 3:30 PM. See the Tours page for full details.
How much do tickets cost?
Tickets are $99 per adult, $35 per child (ages 6–12), and free for children under 5. Booking in advance is required.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. Advance booking is required and there are no walk-ups. You can book online here.
How long is the tour?
The guided tram tour is approximately 2 hours and covers 15 key stops along Centre Road.
Where does the tour depart from?
Tours depart from the Oak Island Interpretive Centre at 5 Oak Island Drive, Martin's Point, NS. Please arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled departure. See How to Get Here for directions.
The Tour Experience
What is the Money Pit Express?
The Money Pit Express is a covered, accessible tram that carries you along Centre Road to 15 key locations across the island. Your guide shares the history, theories, and behind-the-scenes stories of the treasure hunt along the way.
What will I see on the tour?
You'll visit 15 stops including the Money Pit, Smith's Cove, Nolan's Cross, the War Room set, the Swamp, 10X, and more. See the full list on the Tours page.
Is the tour guided?
Yes — all tours are fully guided. There is no self-guided access to Oak Island, as it is an active research site.
Can I get off the tram and walk around?
The tour is conducted primarily aboard the tram with stops along the route. For everyone's safety and to protect the research sites, guests stay with their guide and on marked paths.
Will I see the War Room from the TV show?
Yes. The tour passes the War Room set built in 2016 for The Curse of Oak Island.
Does the tour run in bad weather?
Tours run rain or shine — the tram is covered. Tours are only cancelled in cases of extreme weather, at our discretion.
Can I take photos?
Absolutely. Photography is welcome at designated stops along the tour.
Is the tour suitable for children?
Yes. Children are welcome — tickets are $35 for ages 6–12 and free for under 5. The tram-based format makes it easy for families.
What to Bring
What should I bring on the tour?
Bug spray is essential, especially in late spring and early summer. Also bring sunscreen, water, comfortable walking shoes, and a camera. See our full What to Bring checklist.
What should I wear?
Dress for walking outdoors in coastal conditions and wear layers, as the weather can shift quickly. Skip the flip-flops — choose sneakers or light hikers.
Do I need cash?
Bring cash or a card for the Oak Island Treasure Shop after your tour. Tour tickets themselves are purchased in advance online.

Is the tour wheelchair accessible?
Yes. The Money Pit Express tram is covered and wheelchair accessible.

Is there self-guided access for visitors with limited mobility?
All tours are guided — there is no self-guided access. The tram-based tour is designed to be accessible to most visitors.

How do I get to Oak Island?

How far is it from Halifax airport?

Can I get there without a car?
Yes, though a car is most convenient. Options include Maritime Bus, local taxi services, and guided tours with transport from Halifax. Details are on the How to Get Here page.

What is the Oak Island mystery?

Yes. Oak Island is the subject of History Channel's The Curse of Oak Island, which premiered in 2014.

Policies and Logistics
What is your refund policy?
Refunds are only issued if a tour is cancelled by us due to extreme weather. Missed tours are treated as no-shows.
What happens if I miss my tour?
Missed tours are treated as no-shows and are non-refundable. Please arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled departure.
Can I book a private or group tour?

Are there walk-up tickets?
No. Advance booking is required and there are no walk-ups. Book online here.
Are pets allowed?
For the safety of guests and to protect the research sites, pets are not permitted on the tour (service animals excepted). Please contact us with any questions.
